Steel the real performer at entertainment venue

news image

Derby’s newest entertainment venue which we are building for Derby City Council and SJS Securities features in this month’s New Steel Construction magazine.   With more than 1,200t of steelwork including six trusses weighing 15.4t each, it’s not a surprise that the magazine was interested in covering the project.   Under construction by our North Midlands and Yorkshire region, the venue will be managed by events specialist ASM Global which manages venues and stadiums around the world.   The six trusses which are 36.6m long span the 3,500 capacity auditorium creating a large and column-free space below. The length of these trusses meant they each had to be delivered to site in three welded sections.   The £45.8m entertainment venue is the third leisure facility we have built for Derby City Council. The Arena which includes a velodrome, was completed in 2014 and Moorways Sports Village was completed in February 2022.
