Our North East success story

news image

It’s been a challenging year for businesses across the UK but the Bowmer + Kirkland North East team has enjoyed a number of successes. Not only are our construction projects winning awards, but staff are being recognised for their skills and achievements too. At the recent G4C Constructing Excellence Awards four members of staff received recognition – Estimator Annabel Scott won Trainee of the year, BIM Manager John Ferrigno was awarded New Professional of the Year, Design Manager Hollie Statham received the Mentor of the Year award and Trainee Engineer Josh Chapman was highly commended in the Trainee of the year category. The Catalyst Building, built for Newcastle University took three accolades in the Constructing Excellence in the North East awards and the South Shields Transport Interchange, built for client Muse Developments was highly commended at the same ceremony. At the Local Authority Building Control Awards, One Centre Square in Middlesbrough, completed for Ashall Properties, was awarded the Best Commercial Office Building in the North East. B+K's Managing Director in the North East, Alan Johansen, said: “It has been an extremely challenging year for everyone, yet our staff have been magnificent. They have adapted to new ways of working, supported each other and continued to deliver the highest standards to all our clients. I would like to congratulate all our staff who won awards. We are very proud of them. We are also proud of our construction projects – in particular, The Catalyst Building, which was delivered six weeks ahead of programme and well under budget. It is one of only two buildings outside London to achieve BREEAM Outstanding – and all of that is testament to the hard work of our staff and all our project partners on the scheme.”   Caption: NE MD Alan Johansen (left) is pictured with award winners Josh Chapman (rear left), John Ferrigno, Hollie Statham (front left), Annabel Scott and NE Commercial Director Ed Besford (right)
