Degree Apprentice Summer Project 2025

news image

Our annual Degree Apprentice Summer Project, which sees teams working on a series of mock tenders which are then presented to our main board of directors, has come to a close and the winning team has been selected.

Each year our Training Board brings together first and second year Degree Apprentices from businesses across the Bowmer + KIrkland Group, placing them in teams based on their job titles to ensure an even mix of knowledge, each team is given the same project and has six weeks to complete a full tender document for a construction project, the task ends with a presentation to the main board of directors and teams are scored on their written tender submission and the delivery of their final presentation.

This year's task generated some excellent submissions and gave our apprentices an opportunity to manage a tender from start to finish, the task is extremely challenging and to ensure success each team needed to work closely to bring the tender together for the final presentations.

This year's winning team was Top Draft, which included: Max Patterson (Central region), Ryan Coyle (Industrial and Logistics), Jack McQuillan (North West Region), Karolina Bulaza (North Mids + Yorkshire), Emanual Nalepa (Derry Building Services), Elliot Emery (Peveril Decorators) and William Baines (North East + Scotland region).

Managing Quantity Surveyor and Training Board Member, Jonathan Rothman said: “It’s always a pleasure to run the Summer Project with the Training Board team and our Degree Apprentices, it gives us an opportunity to get to know each individual and the effort that goes into the submissions and presentations is fantastic.”

Main Board Director and Chairman of the Training Board Member, Chris Kirkland said: “This has been another brilliant year and each team has put in some fantastic work on their submissions, it is great to see such enthusiasm and potential in our Degree Apprentices. Well done.”
