At a cost of £31.4m this was a significant fit-out project.
Located within the busy city centre of Leeds the building was originally designed as a hotel. 312 studio apartments ranging in size from 20m2 to 56m2 benefitted from excellent access to the heart of Leeds Beckett University Campus, Leeds College of Art and all local amenities and public transport links.
The construction site was close to Leeds Beckett University but access and progress were maintained without detriment to the campus. The project provided excellent social value with extensive use of local subcontractors and supply chains, 26% were based within 25 miles of site and a further 35% were within 50 miles. 50% were classified as SMEs.
During the project we drove local employment initiatives delivering 664 of 841 workers were within 50 miles of the site; new jobs and student opportunities were also created by our subcontractors.
The programme delivered with respect to the university and its students, including special considerations during exam period.
