Situated at the heart of the University of Warwick Campus, Bowmer + Kirkland delivered this stunning new eight-storey Faculty of Arts building, including all associated building services and external hard and soft landscaping.

The building provided 13,260 m2 floor space with four clusters set around timber clad principal staircases within a full height feature atrium.

To facilitate this development the demolition of an existing multistorey car park was required. CFA piling was undertaken ahead of the in situ concrete frame construction. The façade consisted of fluted terracotta cladding panels with aluminum curtain walling and glazing.

Internally there were three lifts installed supplemented by three stair cores along with the main central timber clad stairs. The ground floor contained a café space, two lecture theatres, two rehearsal spaces, two performance studios and a seventy-seater cinema room.

The next level provided screening rooms and editing suites. The remaining upper floors comprised of a mixture of offices and teaching/seminar spaces.

The external works undertaken centered around the retention of the existing mature trees surrounding the building, this was complimented by block paving including an outdoor theatre space and additional tree/shrubs planting around the building.
