Premier Inn, Salford

Share project

We delivered a mixed use building at the gateway to Media City in Salford Quays, the development included a Premier Inn hotel, offices and media accommodation within a twelve storey building built on a small, triangular shaped plot surrounded by roads on two sides and a multi storey building to the other.

Following initial underground exploration to confirm the site was clear of unexploded objects, the team completed the substructures works, involving detailed temporary works to restrain the adjoining roads and existing mains services.

The steel frame centres around a concrete core with metal decking and insitu concrete floors with a single ply membrane roof covering. In order to create visual separation between the office and hotel floors located on the top 4 levels, structural SSG curtain walling with aluminium infill panels cover the first 8 floors creating the office and media space whilst the aluminium panels extend up the building and clad the hotel area tying the two spaces together.

The hotel also benefits from triple glazed windows to achieve Premier Inn’s high acoustic and thermal requirements.

Taking advantage of the plots gateway position, the large corner structurally glazed prow is brought to life with a large LED screen allowing the client to broadcast messages for key events.
